Apartment Review for Parkwest - Irvine, CA

My experience at this complex started off pretty well until we got a rat infestation, which we found to be pretty common in Parkwest. We were on the second floor cohabitating with rats who were entering our apartment through the many holes in walls throughout our entire apartment, especially the kitchen. Mind you, we kept a clean apartment, so there was nothing like messiness or scattered food or anything that was attracting them to our apartment. We had been there a total of three years, and in the last year, we got rat problems. The apartment company gave no satisfactory effort in getting rid of the rats. Their half-ass effort came in the form of setting a handful of traps, which the rats were escaping. Not until we began calling the office every single day to complain about the problem did they send someone to locate the holes in our apartment. And even then, they gave a poor effort to seal out the rats, we found even more holes after I finally contacted the Irvine Apartment Company Corporate Office and threatened to report the company to the city or state health department. In a nutshell, I have never heard of anyone satisfied with this apt complex or the staff. The staff is rude to college students and basically only show respect to adults. They are slow to act on complaints. With the many young children around the complex, it is often very noisy during after school hours and early in the morning. The only reason I stayed in parkwest was the relatively cheaper rent than that of other apts near uci, and the campus shuttle that services parkwest to uci. Otherwise, I don't recommend living here.
