Apartment Review for Las Palmas - Irvine, CA

I lived there over a year and had a generally good experience there. Noise was an issue because my apartment overlooked the garages so I would hear motorcycles in the early morning sometimes, and the noise echoed between the buildings. If you had a unit with the interior building view you'd be much better off with a better view and less noise. My downstairs neighbor smoked, which really bothered me because I had to keep closing my patio and could not get fresh air in because we only had windows on that one side of the apartment. If you live in an apartment you will have to deal with noise and smokers regardless of where you live, unless it's a retirement community, so I am already used to these things and got over it pretty fast. The only time I had a problem with guest parking was when I had many friends over at once, and there was still parking in the complex, just on the other side, so they had to walk. I've had much worse experiences than that before. Security was good even though the gate was broken every once in a while. It's in Irvine, and not by UCI, so I never knew of crime being an issue. The apartment was a little on the small side, and it has lower-end fixtures, like cheaper counter tops and cabinets, but it is a pretty new complex so it's not old and dirty and still looked nice. The only complaint that I really have an issue with is getting the deposit back. My roommate moved to Ohio and sent a statement releasing interest in the deposit, but the staff is still going to issue the check to everyone's name. We have to mail the check to Ohio for him to sign now and hope it doesn't get lost in the mail.
